Tiberi wins the queen stage, Toumire stays in yellow

Teplice/Altenberg – What the Italians promised in yesterday's interviews, they delivered today. They showed how strong team they have in this years' Junior Peace Race. the difficult climbs were posed no problems for them. Antonio Tiberi won the stage from Teplice to Altenberg. Nonetheless, he did not manage to close the gap to Toumire of France in the GC. 

           „A great moment for me and the team, I am really glad we have such a strong team here. the stage was decided in the last kilometers, that is where I attacked. I had a mechanical in the first stage, but today all went well.", the Italian rider Antonio Tiberi speaks about the racing today. He is seventh overall, 41 seconds down on the leader. The yellow is not out of reach for him. "That is a very difficult task, lets just say not impossible", shrugs with a laugh the young Italian. Today was his second win in the race after the ITT.

            Tiberi reached the finish line in Altenberg after 100 km of racing. He arrived ten seconds ahead of the main filed reduced to twenty riders. Jago Willems sprinted for second and Michel Hessmann was third. In this group was also Hugo Toumire, crossing the line eighth. The co-leader of the Czech team, Mathias Vacek, had bad luck today. He had a flat tire just outside the 3 km zone, which cost him time. "Really bad luck. Nothing more I can say bout it. Mathias was riding well, but this is cycling, this is now it is." vents his disappointment Tomáš Konečný, the Czech team directeur sportif.

            The last stage starting in Terezín will be almost 100 km long. There are three GMPs on the track. The yellow will be worn by Toumire again. "The fact that I'm wearing it since the first stage only shows how strong is our team. I'll try my best to keep it now." said the French rider.
