World Champion Triumphs in Morning Time Trial, Irish Rider Wins Stage to Štětí

Třebívlice/Štětí, May 3, 2024 – The second day of the Peace Race Juniors was packed with racing.

In the morning, an individual time trial of 8.8 km took place in the vicinity of Třebívlice. The route led from Třebívlice to Děčany and back. The weather was favorable for the riders, with only a light wind blowing and times being faster than last year. The winner's average speed was over 51.7 km/h.

The winner was Albert Philipsen (National Team Denmark) with a time of 10:12 minutes, putting on a fantastic performance to take the yellow jersey. Second place went to Aldo Taillieu (National Team Belgium) with a 9-second deficit, and third place to Marius Innhaug Dahl (National Team Norway) with a 16-second deficit.

In the afternoon, the stage from Roudnice nad Labem to Štětí was on the program. The 61.4 km long route led over flat terrain and offered the sprinters an ideal opportunity to show off their skills.

The rain almost missed the riders and the entire peloton finished together. Seth Dunwoody (National Team Ireland) won the exciting sprint to take the stage victory. Like in the time trial, Aldo Taillieu (National Team Belgium) finished second and Anton Louwlarsen (National Team Denmark) sprinted to third place.

Danish favorite and world champion Albert Philipsen maintained the overall lead ahead of Czech representative Pavel Šumpík (+20s) and Dutchman Senna Remijn (+27s).

The Peace Race Juniors will continue tomorrow with a 134 km long queen stage through the Ore Mountains - from Teplice to Olbernhau in Germany with three mountain premiums. The start is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from Teplice's Náměstí Svobody.
