Introductory Word of the Director of the Race ZMJ 2011
Welcome to this year’s anniversary of the Junior Peace Race in Terezin. The traditionally held in May stage race of the juniors this year celebrates its 40th anniversary. I am pleased that we not only have managed through many sweeps to reach the high reputation and a high level of the Junior Peace Race, but were also able to bring about further improvements. Since 1995, this race settled part of the Junior World Cup. This year, the Nation’s Cup, the official title of the most prestigious events in the juniors race events, only hosts nine cycling events, and our junior race is part of the international program. The constantly growing number of participants requires permanent changes in the routing and requirements, year after year to provide a new and challenging setup for this event. This year we were able to avoid readjusting the routes in May. For the first time a leg of the race starts from a quarry. Within five days, the riders are offered the opportunity to become familiar with the beauties of the Czech Northern Mountains and the Saxon Erzgebirge in Germany. I am pleased that each year new riders can gain useful experience in racing, which then often results in titles and medals at World Championships, European Championships and other major events of international, professional cycling. We shall keep our fingers crossed and look forward to new born stars during this year’s anniversary race who may win the rainbow jersey of the World Champion in the future.

Message from the governor of the region Usti nad Labem
Dear friends of sport,
I am glad that we have in the region Ústí events that are inherently and due to their tradition became annual events. This is the case for the Junior Peace Race, which this year will be held for the fortieth time. For the 40th time, our region welcomes promising young cyclists from many countries, for whom this race might become another important stepstone in theire sporting career. Cycling had during recent years a big comeback and the leaders of the region Usti are aware of it. Therefore we do not forget to build bike paths, especially along the Elbe, where we recently opened a new section, and will continue working on the expansion. I wish all participants in the Junior Peace Race 2011, that they manage to achieve the expected results and, also because of Usti, will held pleasant memories and unforgettable memorie to take home. I would be happy if our region will become a place for you where you want to come back to.
We will also enjoy you …
