Terezín, May 8, 2026 – Italy’s Tommaso Cingolani claimed victory in the fast and tactical Stage 2b of the 54th edition of the Course de la Paix Juniors, winning the bunch sprint in Terezín after 63.8 kilometres of racing from Roudnice nad Labem. Denmark’s Malthe Risbjerg moved into the yellow jersey ahead of the decisive mountain stage.

The peloton remained largely under control throughout the flat parcours towards Terezín, with no breakaway able to establish a significant advantage over the bunch.
With the general classification still extremely close after the morning time trial, positioning remained important throughout the stage, especially ahead of the day’s only intermediate sprint. Brandon Fedrizzi of Italy took maximum points at the sprint prime in Chotěšov ahead of Slovenia’s Maj Bohak and Belgium’s Seff Van Kerckhove, continuing Italy’s strong presence across the opening stages of the race.
The stage ultimately came down to a mass sprint on the streets of Terezín, where Cingolani delivered the strongest finish to secure the stage victory in a winning time of 1:19:10 at an average speed of 48.353 km/h. Czech rider Jakub Tesařík sprinted to an impressive second place for the home team, while Latvia’s Arvids Logins completed the podium in third place.
Thanks to the consistent performances of the Danish national team throughout the day, Risbjerg moved into the overall lead of the race ahead of teammate Julius Birkedal, with France’s Soen Le Pann sitting third overall before Saturday’s mountain stage in the Ore Mountains.
Denmark also took over the lead in the teams classification, ahead of Italy and the Netherlands.
Italy nevertheless remained one of the dominant nations of the race. After Brandon Fedrizzi’s victory in the opening stage, Cingolani added another Italian stage win and also moved into the white jersey. Fedrizzi retained both the green and polka dot jerseys, while Malthe Risbjerg took over the yellow jersey as overall race leader. Belgium’s Sander Willems now holds the blue jersey.
Saturday’s queen stage into the Ore Mountains is expected to play a decisive role in the battle for the overall classification.
