Polish Rider Jackowiak Wins 2025 Course de la Paix Juniors, Red and White Jersey Stays Home with Piták

Terezín, May 11, 2025 – The jubilee 53rd edition of the Course de la Paix Juniors concluded sunday morning with its fourth and final stage, starting and finishing in Terezín’s ČSA Square. The 102.4 km stage provided an exciting spectacle for fans along the course, with fierce battles for the stage win and the overall classification until the very last meters.

A total of 131 riders started the decisive day, which featured two intermediate sprint bonuses (in Hrdly and Terezín) and four climbing laps in Chudoslavice that shaped the King of the Mountains classification. The pace was high from the beginning, averaging 44–49 km/h, and early attempts to break away animated the race.

The sprint bonuses were claimed by Italy’s Alessio Magagnotti and Austria’s Anatol Friedel, with Dutch rider Gijs Schoonvelde from the Netherlands, who ultimately took home the green jersey for the best sprinter.

The spotlight of the day, however, was on the GPM battle, which turned into a dominant performance by Czech rider Matěj Piták, who claimed all four climbing primes in Chudoslavice. With this commanding ride, he secured the red and white jersey  for the best climber, giving the home crowd something to celebrate.

The final kilometers were marked by a tense fight for the yellow jersey. Germany’s team set a fierce pace for Karl Herzog, who trailed overall leader Jan Jackowiak of Poland by just two seconds ahead of the stage. Despite multiple attacks and breakaway attempts in the final laps, the gaps were not sufficient to overturn the general classification.

The breakaway trio was caught just before the finish line, and the stage ended in a thrilling bunch sprint.

Belgium’s Witse Bertlese emerged victorious in the final stage.

Polish rider Jan Jackowiak held on to his lead and claimed overall victory in the 53rd edition of the Course de la Paix Juniors, finishing two seconds ahead of Karl Herzog (Germany). Italy’s Roberto Capello completed the podium in third place.

The organizers would like to thank all riders, teams, partners, and fans for contributing to a fantastic sporting atmosphere over four days of racing. Once again, the Course de la Paix Juniors proved its reputation as one of the premier junior stage races in the world.
