Třebívlice - The second day of the 53rd edition of the Peace Race Juniors featured two crucial challenges. In the morning, an individual time trial reshuffled the general classification standings. On the 8.8 km course, it was Ireland’s Conor Murphy who excelled, clocking 10:27.69 at an average speed of 50.470 km/h, earning a well-deserved stage victory. For comparison, last year’s winner completed the same course in 10:12.
Just one second behind finished Michiel Mouris of the Netherlands, with Vos Coleman of Belgium taking third in 10:39.32.
The best Czech performance came from Daniel Kuběna (Roman Kreuziger Cycling Academy), who placed 41st with a time of 11:06.17.
The time trial returned for the third consecutive year to the picturesque village of Třebívlice in the Central Bohemian Uplands, near the popular "Plum Railway." The course offered a fast yet technically demanding profile – ideal conditions for a fight against the clock. Riders enjoyed dry and sunny weather, though temperatures remained on the cooler side.
After two stages, Murphy retains the overall lead, though Mouris trails by just one second. Fellow Dutchman Gijs Schoonvelde sits third at +5 seconds. Kuběna currently ranks 38th overall, with a deficit of just 39 seconds – highlighting the tight time gaps among this year’s peloton.
The afternoon brings stage 2b – a flat 58 km road race from Roudnice nad Labem to Terezín, with the stage starting at 4:00 PM from the main square in Roudnice.
