Třebenice – Cian Uijtdebroeks, a member of the Belgian squad wins the individual TT in Třebenice. After the race against the clock we have a new yellow jersey holder, Per Strand Hagenes, who took it from his compatriot Stian Edvardsen-Fredheim.
Per Strand Hagenes, was second yesterday and also today in the ITT, combined, these two results brought him to the top of the GC. "Time trial is my favorite discipline. And this one in Třebenice suited me very well. There were few short climbs and overall it was a very dynamic TT, which I like a lot." commented on the profile the Norwegian rider. "As Stian said yesterday, we are a strong team here and we will fight for every position. Whether we manage to keep the yellow to the end, well, we will see. My build is a bit too heavy for climbs as those in the Saturday stage, but we will work as a team and we can make things happen. The peace race is currently the most prestigious race and it would be super cool to win here."
The best time of the 11.2 km TT was 14:22, set by Cian Uijtdebroeks, which was 7 seconds faster than the new yellow jersey. Third was Ivan Romeo Abad of Spain, only some hundredths of a second faster than Frenchman Romain Grégoire
There is a stage 2b in the afternoon in Štětí, about 60 km long, but what makes it difficult is that it is a second challenge in one day.
