Stolić is the first ever Serbian stage winner at our race

Štětí – Another chapter in the race history was written by Mihajlo Stolić, who became the first Serb ever to win a stage at the Junior peace race as he was the fastest in the bunch sprint in Štětí.

"This is a great win for me and my country. It was difficult race and I am very happy with the result." says Mihajlo Stolić, who was confident about today's stage. "It was clear that this would be a stage for sprinters and I am a sprinter, so I thought, this is my stage. I do not have the legs for tomorrows mountain stage." was laughing the young Serb, who left the whole peloton behind him as he crossed the line in Štětí. He was accompanied to the podium by Brinkman of Holland who was second, and Gautherata from France took bronze.

The Friday afternoon stage followed the ITT in the morning. The organizers from CK Slavoj Terezín prepared a stage without major climbs suited for sprinters. The riders flew through the 60 km in 75 minutes, but due to the rain this was not an easy ride at all. "This was a nervous stage, it was raining the whole time and the roads were narrow. One had to get to the front and stay there, not letting anyone take your place. I think we managed to do this all right." this is how Matyáš Kopecký describes the stage, which he finished 9th. Two places in front of him was Daniel Mráz, from the mixed Czech-German team Euroregion, his 7th the best place for the Czech riders this year. "It was a bit crazy sprint as there was a lot of movement across the road, left and right all the time, a lot of fighting for position. I did not really manage to get up and sprint. I thing I have the form to make it to the podium, but so far no luck." says Matyáš Kopecký, who still has to wait for his moment. He sits 13th in the GC one minute behind the leader.

There were no major changes in the GC, Per Strand Hagenes of Norway leads the race.

Tomorrow we have the queen stage from Teplice to Olbernhau. The stage starts at 2pm and there will be difficult climbs on the way, among those two GMPs in Cínovec and Seiffen.
