The organizers seek to elevate the quality of the race with every new edition, there are some traditions to be preserved. Such a tradition is the location of the race start. The first stage of the 48th edition of the Course de la Paix Juniors starts and ends at the same place, the Peace square (Mírové náměstí) in Litoměřice. Today's stage will take off at 2:40 p.m. and things will escalate quickly. Already at kilometer 14 will be the first GPM, meaning the riders will commence climbing almost right from the start. At around 30 kilometers into the race the riders will pass through the town of Úštěk, where the sprinters can claim points at the intermediate sprint for the green jersey competition. The next sprint for points is in Vědlice at the mark 50.7 km. After these two sprints the attention will be focused on climbers again. The second GPM is at kilometer 66 in Mukařov. The riders will reach the finish in Litoměřice, assuming an average speed of 40 km/h, at around 5:15 p.m.           

Start/Finish Town

Litoměřice is a historical town in the Ústí nad Labem Region, in the north-west of the Czech Republic. It lies at the junction of the Elbe and Ohře, it takes about an hour on the highway from the capital Prague. The population is around 25 thousand inhabitants. There are many historical sights in the town, located mostly at the two squares, Peace square (Mírové náměstí) and the square at the Domehill. The town is famous for the yearly exhibition “The Garden of Bohemia”, the largest event for farmers and home improvement fanatics. During the winter season the main sport is Ice Hockey. The local team plays in the second highest league in the Czech republic.
